PreparationIt is very important to properly prepare fish, being careful not to overcook, as this will result in the fish meat being tough and will destroy its flavor. Cooking times may vary with each fish type and thickness of the cut.
The following times are your general rule of thumb for typical cooking times: 10 mins. per inch of fish, 5 mins. per inch of fish cooked in a sauce, 20 mins. per inch of fish if frozen. Mostly any fish can be baked, broiled, fried, grilled, or steamed. Since each fish meat is different, periodically check the cooking fish with a fork until it breaks apart or becomes flaky in texture when fish is done.
