How to Steam Crab Legs
Here is an easy way to steam crab legs, which will work with both Alaskan king crab and snow crab.
King crab legs and snow crab legs usually come frozen. It is best to let the slowly thaw overnight in the fridge. Trying to expedite the thaw can degrade the flavor and the texture of the crab meat. If you cannot wait overnight, you can place the crab under running water for about 5 minutes. For steaming crab legs, you can use a steamer or pot. What is important is that you use a steaming basket or rack inside the pot or steamer and that the basket does not come in contact with the boiling water. The water at the bottom should be about two inches in depth.
